About TMA Lab
Introducing the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Department of Pathology,
Tissue Microarray Core Facility
We are pleased to announce the opening of our facility for construction of
tissue microarrays (TMAs) at Johns Hopkins. TMAs are a powerful new
technology for high throughput analysis of biomarker expression in a large
number of tissue samples. These samples range from human tissue specimens
with clinical follow-up, animal tissues, to cell lines. Over the last
several years our laboratory has produced more than 190 TMAs containing
greater than 30,000 tissue cores for more than 20 different Hopkins
Investigators. Funding has come from various sources including the National
Institutes of Health Prostate SPORE Program, Cap CURE, and private donors.
As a result of continued demand and our considerable experience we are now
offering this expertise to the Johns Hopkins community in the form of a new
service center. Email us today to set up a free consultation to discuss your
project.
The TMA Core will provide free advice to investigators on array design. Investigators with an interest in TMA data handling beyond simple spreadsheets will have full access to our newly developed TMA database, TMAJ
(http://tmaj.pathology.jhmi.edu/).
